Mauritius Election 2010

Congratulations to the Labour party who have won what may be termed a landslide victory. At least 40 seats in a 60 seats parliament. Now that the dust has settled,

I think it is time to analyze the results.

1. No independent candidate was elected. One very notable exception is Mr Chel Meah came out top in his constituency. He is a real dark horse and actually reveals the voting trend over the whole of the country.

2. Most of the constituency with three seats up for grabs, went to a sole party. I.e all the three top members were from the same party. Shows that people tend to vote for a particular party, rather than individual members presented!

3. It is a rather good result, which gives the winning party enough leverage in the parliament to bring forward their legislations.

4. We are finally going to have a government of continuity. So for once, we will really see if all the policies comes to fruition.

5. The leader of Party Malin deserves an award. Not for his jokes but rather the sincerity he displayed and the conviction he had in his own arguments!
